Movie poses?

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 3:19 PM
Do pose balls for movie clips exists?

It would be (at least to me) cool so see some of the clips replayed with your AV doing the motions and words. I would not expect the mouths (muzzles) to move correctly but the body movement should work. I don't know the technical limitations for pose balls other than it has to be short.

I'll check myself tonight but I just thought I'd ask as sifting through the Search thingy on SL is pretty time consuming in itself.

Priest leveling agony - plz help!

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 1:16 PM
Greetings ladies and lurkers!

I have come to you need assistance/advise.  Being a major altaholic (no, that's not what I need help with - I like me that way!), I rolled "one of each" Alliance side on my main server (no - I am NOT going to admit how many servers I have toons on).  I have a baby shadow priest and she continues to stay a baby after many months as leveling her is killing me...I've never had such a painful leveling experience.  Can any of you give me suggestions/advice as to what might make leveling her easier or at least tolerable?  I am willing to respec if that will help, but don't know about taking on a straight healer toon.  I don't have one and am so used to killing as opposed to keeping people/things alive that I don't know if I could transition.  Not to mention the fact that being responsible for keeping people alive in instances makes my palms sweat almost enough to short out my keyboard (and that's just thinking about it).  Also, most of my leveling will be done solo, since my in-game pals are in different time zones from me.

Any suggestions/advice/smacks upside the head to motivate me will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Some new photos!

Thought it was time to share some new photos! The shoes in these are ridiculous and I love them! lol

I don't really see them as not save for work, but some could possibly consider them that...

WTF?

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 1:17 PM
Dear Customer,

I am sorry that you are displeased that we switched to prepay for our gas but it was necessary due to so many people trying to scam us. Just one thing to keep in mind: you have to come inside to pay me either way and prepay only means I'll see you a little sooner. You're seriously never coming back for THAT reason?

Not going to miss your business,

[info]terwashere

While I was the first one to bring this up, I have not lived here too long and have NO idea where we should hold a gathering, or...anything.  If someone who is organized AND kowledgable wants to take his over, you are more than welcome to.

Until then!

So yes, we are still recruiting. We are up to about 17 raiders (one that actually is a member of the wow_ladeis community), give or take like 2 that need some gear outta Naxx still. But that's ok cause we are able to do full guild Ulduar10 runs now and it's awesome!

Anyway, we are a couple month old guild on [A]Khadgar. IMO we are fun, sociable and all-in-all just a great group of ppl.

Currently we are looking to push into Ulduar25 but we need to fill in the gaps. Those gaps would be healers and tanks. We need 1/2 Tanks, prefferably Warrior, Druid (I want a BEAR!) and Pally. As for healers, gimme some Trees, Priests (Holy and Disc we <3 you) and of course a Holy Pally and maybe a Resto Shaman. Total we are looking to recruit about 5/6 healers at this point.

If your Melee or Ranged/Caster we'd also welcome your application. We are always looking for expectional ppl that just want to raid and have some fun. We'd love to get a Shadow Priest in here and another Boomer to give me some compeitition would be great.

Guild Info/Recruitment Post Found here. )

In addition to Ulduar10 we are also partnered with Mojo Clan (big shout out to you great ppl!) to clear Naxx25 every Friday.

Recap: Lifeguard/towel monkey at a fancy resort

Just a little one from the other day. I'm sitting at our guard station, doing my thing, watching the pool. A kid approaches the station to get some water from our nifty dispenser. I barely register his presence at first. The conversation we have is as follows:

Me: I'm in ur poolz, savin' ur chilluns
KWA: Kid with Attitude

KWA: *Extremely snottily* Is there a problem?
Me: *Just noticing him* Pardon me?
KWA: Is there a problem?
Me: ...With what?
KWA: I don't know, anything.
Me: ...
KWA: You keep staring at me. Is there a problem?
Me: ...Uh.

I told him after that that he probably just thought I was looking at him, since my sunglasses can make it seem that way, but honestly, what the hell? I am a lifeguard. Yes, I am going to stare at you. Then I'll proceed to stare at the guy behind you, and the little girl to your left, and the teenagers on the other end of the pool. That is my job.

The best part was I forgot the kids face within five minutes of the conversation taking place (which made the story difficult to relay it to my coworker, because he might be here right now). Clearly, he is not the center-of-attention he believes himself to be.

It's just the way things are done to direct you to an open register if I'm checking someone and the other register is open. I did not say I was closed, or anything such as that, I was just following guidelines. When I finish the customer I was on and start a new one, it is not acceptable to come up to me and start screaming about "Why did you say you were closed? Are you predjudiced? (she was Indian) You see I have a lot of stuff and don't want to do that much work? (she had maybe 20 large items in her buggy)" You see, ma'am, I do not enjoy being made to cry at work. You also did not need to cuss your the customer who was trying to defend me.

YaoiCon Trick-or-Treating?

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 12:56 PM
Hi there everyone! My name is Lauren--also known as temporary-glitcn on deviantART--and this will be my third year attending YaoiCon.

Since this year it's on Halloween weekend, I was wondering if the people of the Fan Market (Artist Alley) would be interested, and capable, of having a sort of cosplay trick-or-treat.

It would create more circulation within the Fan Market itself and cosplayers (or normal-dressed folks who ask nicely) get awesome candy.

The only thing holding us back would be cosplayers not knowing about the activity AND the fact that in some places you need a permit to even hand out food. I really hope that YaoiCon is a little more lenient in terms of giving candy to customers, since, you know...people in their own households give candy to children either way.

Let me know what you guys think and if this was the proper area to make this post. LOL

The DC/Baltimore area meetup.

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 3:38 PM
Ok, the locations that won were "near the red line" and "downtown DC". Since you can get to downtown from the red line, and it can be kinda hard to find parking and navigate the city, we're going with "near the red line". To that end, Reservoir suggested the following location: http://www.downtownsilverspring.com/ I think it's a good idea, because it has a lot of different restaurants that we could go to, and places we can just hang out. It's also big, easy to find, close to the train, and has lots of parking. We will be meeting at the fountain, which you can see on the map on the website (blue circle near the restaurants in the upper left area).

The other question is when to have it. I know there were a couple of people who posted saying they were moving soon, so that's why some of the dates are so close. I left out the weekend of 8/8 because it's my parents' anniversary, and I won't be in town, and I'm selfish like that. ;P~~ I think 4pm sounds like a good meeting time. It gives us enough time to get organized and say hi and such before going to have dinner.

Poll #1432473 When should we have it?

When should we have the meetup?

2 (33.3%)

8/1

8/15

Other (please comment)
1 (16.7%)

Anyone who wants to, even from DE (hey, it's not that far! Easy day trip!) or PA or where ever, is welcome to come. :) After this post I'll be making one more with the final info and invites in it, then I'll be done spamming you all. =D Also, I went back and tagged the other two for easy finding under the meetup tag.

Splendid China - Abandoned Amusement

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 2:29 PM
In Kissimmee Florida there was a Chinese themed scenery park named Splendid China that used replica miniatures of famous Chinese buildings and scenes. . It opened in 1993 but due to poor tourism and public protests about there inaccurate portray of Chinese history eventually closed the park in 2003. I didn't go in due to high security and a $500.00 fine, but it has been a popular place for skateboarders who like to tear it apart.

These pictures were taken Dec. 2008 and everything is what you can see from the outside, sometimes with zoom from the camera. ;)

What you can see from the street:

What was once the entrance:

Everyday on my lunch, I go next door to the dollar store to get food.  I usually get mistaken for an employee there, even though their uniform is black pants and whatever shirt, and ours is khaki, blue shirts, and our store name.  It's really annoying, but after an "I don't work here," they usually leave me alone.  Yesterday was different though.

A man and his wife were in there shopping.  They were ready to checkout, and were waiting at an empty register.  At this store, the cashiers MUST stock in between customers, so sometimes you have to wait for a cashier.  This time the owner was over at register 1 in their office area, just ignoring the customers (bad_service, yes).  I was still shopping when the husband started saying, "Do you have a register open?"  I ignored him, not knowing he was talking to me.  Next thing I know, he is actually GRABBING my arm, and in my face.  He says, "I SAID, 'Do you have a register open?'"  I shook my arm away from him and said, "I do NOT work here."

I was ready to checkout at that point, when the manager said, "I'll take you guys down here at register 1."  I had 2 items, vs. their cart full.  And I wasn't about to waste my lunch in line.  So I just paid for my things before them.  When I was taking my bag to leave is when his wife had JUST gotten down to that register.  As I'm leaving, the husband is now standing by the door and says, "Nice looking out for yourself you f*ing fat bitch."  I just roll my eyes and keep walking.  Made me mad, but I just want to get back to my store and eat.  Next thing I know, he FOLLOWS me to my store, and asks my coworker for a manager.

Seriously, WTF is wrong with people?!

Golden Nugget - Abandoned Ride

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 1:43 PM
In Wildwood NJ there was a ride called the Golden Nugget. Opened in 1960 and I closed in the 80's to be "reveived" for one year in 1997 then closed. It has been torn down to make way for a Roller Coaster, but before demolition they allowed people to walk around and veiw what was left. The tracks have been sold to an amusement park in Pennsylvania.

Grid

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 2:14 PM
Some people have expressed interest in Grid and how I set up my UI, so I thought I'd make a post here for those interested. =) This is aimed at people who're not currently using Grid but want to see what can be done with the addon.

Basically, Grid is a compact raid frame that allows the display of a lot of information via its corners (and through extensions, its sides as well). It actually doesn't take a huge amount of time to setup as long as you know what you're looking for.

Required Addons:
- Grid
- GridManaBars
- GridIndicatorCornerText - For text information rather than the tiny squares that come as default on Grid
- GridStatusRaidDebuff: Displays special icons for essential boss debuffs like frost blast during KT, mutating injection during Grobby, etc.
- GridStatusHots

Option Addons:
- GridSideIndicators: If you find that 4 corners aren't enough for what you want to track

Screenies & Moar info! )

Any other Grid users care to chime in with their own setups, tips, etc.? =)

Conbadges round?

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 1:16 PM
Just wondering if the current round we were in was ever going to end? I know I never did get a badge. Was the round extended again or something? I think it was supposed to end July 1st, wasn't it?

Can we get some sort of update?

Paid Transfer Cooldown Reduced

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 2:12 PM
As a means to provide more flexibility to play with your friends, or move to a realm that may better serve your needs, we are reducing the cooldown of the Paid Character Transfer service from 30 days to 3 days. This should prove particularly beneficial to players who move to a realm they don't enjoy and wish to quickly move to a brand-new realm. For more information, please see the Paid Character Transfer FAQ -

Where are all the handsome men?

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 11:10 AM

Something is seriously wrong with me. I went Dishy Guy Monday browsing, and was left cold after an hour of searching. The guys just looked too young, too scary intense, or just plain too meh.

Matt is the best of what I found.

I'm not sure about that expression above, though. He looks kinda wary to me.

Then again, this one is kind of dubious, too.

At least he's not quite so wary looking.

And then we have the shades pic.

I can't tell if he's looking manfully into the distance, or if he's just thinking about what he wants for dinner.

Sigh. It's me, isn't it? I've lost the DGM touch.

Background: I work in a supermarket tea room. Said supermarket is in one of the most popular tourist towns in England's Lake District. People seem to leave their brains behind when they go on holiday.

M = Me, witness of the suck.
B = My co-worker, target of the suck.
C = Customer of the sucky variety.
NC = Next customer, of the non sucky variety.

Context: B is on barista duty, solo. I'm helping out our dish washer by unloading clean stuff out front, so I see everything as it happens. One of our colleagues is serving the previous customer at the cash register, so when Customer gets loud, they hear everything too.

Try thinking out possible solutions to your problem BEFORE yelling... )

TL;DR: Customer complains about something she literally saw coming, and wasted time yelling when she could have solved the problem herself without resorting to being mean.
